Together with Betty van der Kamp I was a guest at the Kunst aan de vaart event in Assen. Our location was visited by approximately 1,000 people during the art weekend. The reactions to the installation were surprising, playful and lively.
This was the fourth version of the #boxes project at a location. It was already at the #MOW, in Jacqueline Kasemier's dining room during the #winterfair and in my own home as "Wrapped, an expedition through the house". Each time in a different way and form in combination with the interior of the given location.
On the Thursday and Friday before I was busy building the installation, which did not immediately have the right shape. And it turned out that one box was still missing, which I added on Saturday. Just enough! On the boxes you saw various motifs from nature, such as a root system, a chickadee, a grebe and primitive plants. Some of the boxes were cut open, sometimes with contents. I didn't have a title yet, but on Sunday morning a visitor suggested "Nature Building" and that is what it became.
The event took place on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 September from 11am - 5pm.
